ORION LEHRMANN - ABOUT HIS NEW PRO MODEL IN HIS OWN WORDS

Physical Design: Over the last 3 years, I rode the Joe McLaren Fiberglass model and Axe III Ultimate Model, so this board is basically the things I would have wanted to change about my boards over the last 3 years. I ride my back foot at about a 30 degree angle from straight across, and I like to have my toes right over the back wheel, but I always lacked back heel leverage on big hybrid/giant pumpers. So, I designed the tail so less of my heel hangs off the edge. My heel will still hang off the edge, but just 1/3 of my heel instead of 1/2- but I think that extra 1/6 will make a different.

I have some recommendations on how to ride it, based on what I designed it for, but you can ride it however fits your style. I believe this board would be best ridden asymmetrical, so whatever stance you stand in, you would cut off the wing on the toe side allowing your back foot toes to hang off the edge of the board a little bit. When I have my toe hang off a little bit, it can feel like I'm gripping the edge on toe side pumps. You can also circumvent having to cut off the toe side wing by putting a wedge on your toe side as if there was no wing and the front of the board just continued into the back of the board without flaring out- this would allow you to have your toe "hanging off" feel without having to cut the wing off. I personally like to put a wedge on my back foot’s toe-side, so if you want to ride it like me, I recommend putting a toe wedge lining up with your foot (where if you didn’t have shoes on, you could wrap your toes around the edge of the foot wedge as if you were trying to pick it up). I also recommend riding with your toe directly over the back wheel instead of right in front of it, as this can help with responsiveness.

If you have any questions about anything related to this board (or anything slalom in general) you can reach out to me @slalomskateboard on Instagram or [email protected]

Board Graphic Artwork: This artwork was made by my friend Celine Liu. Thank you to her for doing an amazing job.

This artwork is a tribute to my time in Chicago. I lived in Chicago, IL near "The Bean" in 2023 and 2024 for work. It definitely was not the best place for me to build my skills in slalom, but I was the most determined I had ever been in my life to take on the world’s best- so I made it work for me. I slalomed 25 cones on the top of parking garages surrounded by sky scrapers, and somehow found a 65 cone length flat area right outside of the city in the UIC medical center parking lot. My results from 2023-present: Hybrid Vice-World Champion, Hybrid Vice-Vice-World Champion, Giant Vice-World Champion, US National Champion, 2x Hybrid US National Champion, Tight US National Champion, 3x Texas Sizzler Champion. The results speak for themselves. I’m not attributing Chicago to these results as I have had great support from many people in the slalom scene and my family/friends (you know who you are, thank you and love y’all). Some of those around me might’ve thought my journey to Chicago would put a halt to my slalom journey, but the fact that it was harder to train out there made me learn how to do more with less. And I believe forcing yourself to do more with less can help you learn how to realize a larger percentage of your potential.

As for the red and black theme. That’s just a combination of colors that really appeals to me. Red has to be the fastest feeling color, and black adds an extra level of intensity.
